What's Taters Precious?
Po-ta-toes! Boil them, mash them, put them in a stew! Even Irene couldn't ruin that! While the water levels are out of control in Vermont right now, our garden remained unharmed for the most part, and we were able to dig up some nice tasty taters that will be on sale at tomorrows farm stand.
In other parts of the garden we have noticed some powdery mildew accruing on our pumpkin patch and squash plants. In order to treat the condition we sprayed our plants with the same neem oil solution that we used as a pest deterrent. Other methods that are also helpful include using a compost tea spray or a baking-soda solution.
Please swing by the farm stand tomorrow between 11:30 and 1:30 outside of the chapel. With all the students, faculty, and staff members back on campus we are hoping to have a very productive day, so come early and you can grab one of the last few melons of the season. Have a great week!
